My name is Alie Smith and I am from Lake Arrowhead, Ca. I am rising Junior at MEC.
Tell us something unique about you or your family.
I have an aunt who is consecrated and an uncle who was just ordained a priest! He is part of a Polish order and he is working in Panama City, Florida.
What is your favorite class?
My favorite class this past year was Philosophical Anthropology with Dr. Schwarz. I didn't study philosophy in high school and so I was nervous when I registered for the class, but to my surprise, I loved it! Besides the philosophy, I liked looking at the human person from a philosophical standpoint.
What book are you reading right now and why?
I am reading the book, Lay Siege to Heaven, by Louis de Wohl. It is a novel about the life of Saint Catherine of Siena. I picked it up because I was inspired to learn about a saint that I didn't know much about.
What is one of the things you love about MEC?
I love MEC because, besides having felt the call to give my life to God, I am also able to receive an amazing education that equips me for my vocation as an apostle.

What is your favorite song from an MEC CD?
My favorite song is "I fell in love with a Prisoner" from the CD "I Can Love You Still."
What does “integral formation” mean to you?
For me, integral formation means that, as a MEC student, I am receiving the formation I will need in all areas of my life. My integral formation is preparing me for my mission as a consecrated woman giving my life to serve the Church.
